The Wildflower Diaries: What bees are dining on this month!

As May settles in, we’re starting to see a number of flowers from our A Brush With Love wildflower seed packs coming into bloom. One of the early risers - and one of our favourites - is the delicate, ribbon-petalled ragged robin.

This whimsical wildflower brings a bit of magic to gardens and green spaces. Its vivid pink blooms dance above the greenery, adding life and light to any corner of the garden. While it looks delicate, this hardy perennial flower returns year after year with bright flowers that are particularly attractive to bees, offering a vital early-season feast.

If you've sown the seeds from one of our seed packs tucked inside our sympathy cards, now’s the time to look out for these soft pink blooms swaying gently in the breeze…

Ragged robin earned its place in our wildflower seed mix for so many reasons - its delicate charm, its value to pollinators, its resilience in gardens, and also importantly, its ability to travel safely through the post.

Many fragile seeds, like forget-me-not seeds can be easily crushed in the mail. We have carefully tested all our seed varieties to make sure they’re robust enough to arrive in perfect condition. And we only ever use seeds that are 100% free from neonicotinoids - as these pesticides are harmful to bees and other vital pollinators.

Each pack of our wildflower mix can be tucked inside one of our pet sympathy cards - a small but meaningful gesture that clients find very touching. It’s a way to honour the life of their beloved companion, while planting something new:

  • 🌺 Perfect for home ceremonies to say a gentle goodbye
  • 🌿 A reason to step outside and nurture something beautiful
  • 🐝 A gift for bees and butterflies, who need us now more than ever

Our wildflower seed packs are made using eco-friendly, recycled materials and designed to coordinate with our bestselling card ranges. This small touch brings a boutique, thoughtful feel to every card - a detail your clients will notice and remember.

And as if that wasn't enough, there are more ways these blooms support the bees! On this World Bee Day we will be making a donation to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust - a brilliant UK charity doing amazing work to help protect these enigmatic pollinators and restore wild habitats across the country.
